Treasurer

 

Reports To: Board President

 

Job Overview:

The Treasurer is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial management and reporting of The GEM Club. This role involves working closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to ensure the organization's financial health, compliance with regulations, and effective stewardship of resources.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Budgeting

  1. Collaborate with the Executive Director and Finance Committee to develop annual budgets aligned with the organization's strategic goals.

  2. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.

 

Financial Oversight

  1. Monitor and manage the organization's financial activities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  2. Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.

 

Banking and Cash Management

  1. Manage organizational bank accounts and cash flow.

  2. Ensure proper authorization and documentation for financial transactions.

 

Financial Reporting

  1. Prepare regular financial reports for the Board of Directors, highlighting key financial indicators, variances, and trends.

  2. Present financial reports at board meetings and answer questions from board members.



 

Compliance and Tax Reporting

  1. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.

  2. Work with external tax professionals to prepare and submit required tax filings.

 

Grant and Fund Management

  1. Collaborate with program managers to monitor the financial aspects of grants and funds.

  2. Assist in developing budgets for grant proposals.

 

Board Collaboration

  1. Provide financial updates and presentations to the Board of Directors.

  2. Advise the board on financial strategies and risks.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA designation is a plus.

  2. Proven experience in financial management, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

  3. Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles and fund accounting.

  4. Strong analytical and strategic financial planning skills.

  5. Proficient in Quickbooks and Google Suite.

  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  7. Ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

  8. Commitment to the highest standards of ethical conduct and financial integrity.

  9. Ability to collaborate effectively with the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and other team members.
