Local Breakfast Spot Raises Dough for GiGi’s Playhouse in June “Smiles for Good” Campaign

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (May 2026) – This June, Eggs Up Grill locations in the Cane Bay, Ladson, and Knightsville neighborhoods of Summerville, S.C., will join the franchise brand’s annual Smiles for Good campaign, raising funds to support a local nonprofit making a meaningful impact in the Lowcountry.

From June 1–30, guests dining at participating Eggs Up Grill locations will be invited to round up their check to the nearest dollar, with all proceeds benefiting GiGi's Playhouse Charleston.

For the restaurants’ owner, Marc Cotone, the partnership is deeply personal:

“GiGi’s Playhouse Charleston is incredibly close to our family’s heart,” said Cotone. “My 8-year-old daughter, Makenna, volunteers there, and we’ve seen firsthand the joy, confidence, and community it creates for so many families. Being able to support an organization that means so much to her, and to us, makes this year’s Smiles for Good campaign especially meaningful.”

The Smiles for Good initiative is a systemwide community campaign designed to support local charities selected by individual restaurant owners. In previous years, guests contributed $1, $3, or $5 donations, with both franchisees and the brand matching contributions to maximize impact. This year’s round-up format offers guests a simple and seamless way to give back.

GiGi's Playhouse Charleston is part of a national network of Down syndrome achievement centers dedicated to providing free educational, therapeutic, and career development programs for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. The organization’s mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome while fostering acceptance, empowerment, and lifelong support.

Throughout the month, guests can support the campaign simply by dining at any of the three Summerville-area Eggs Up Grill locations and choosing to round up their bill. Every dollar raised will stay local, directly benefiting programs and families served by GiGi’s Playhouse Charleston.

“Our restaurants are deeply rooted in the community, and Smiles for Good is one of the most powerful ways we bring that mission to life and make a lasting impact,” Cotone added.

Looking ahead, Cotone’s restaurant group continues to expand its presence in the Charleston region, with new Eggs Up Grill locations planned for Goose Creek and Mt. Pleasant in 2026–27. Selecting a North Charleston-based nonprofit partner reflects the brand’s growing footprint and ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it serves.
