NeoHERO Foundation – Board Member Opening: Attorney (Volunteer Position)

The NeoHERO Foundation (Helping Educate Responders On-scene) is seeking a passionate and experienced attorney to join our Board of Directors. This is a volunteer role that offers a unique opportunity to make a life-saving difference in your community.

About NeoHERO:
NeoHERO is a South Carolina–based nonprofit dedicated to providing neonatal education, equipment, and support to EMS and fire crews during prehospital transport. In our state, first responders are not required to have neonatal training or carry neonatal-sized equipment—and we are working to change that. We believe every newborn deserves a fighting chance, and every first responder deserves to be prepared.

Board Member Responsibilities:

• Provide legal insight and risk guidance on nonprofit operations and documentation

• Assist with compliance, contracts, and governance best practices

• Support the 501(c)(3) compliance process (application submitted March 2025)

• Collaborate with fellow board members to advance fundraising, programming, and community partnerships

• Attend monthly board meetings (virtual/in-person) and participate in strategic planning as needed

Ideal Candidate:

• Licensed attorney, in good standing 

• Passionate about community health, equity, and emergency response

• Prior nonprofit or board experience is a plus but not required

• Willing to volunteer time, offer guidance, and serve as a legal sounding board
