All business is people business. People like stories. Storytelling is good business.
The art of storytelling is the oldest and most powerful means of communicating thoughts, ideals, and values. Stories are told in the nursery room to teach morals, in the living room to entertain, and in the classroom to impart wisdom. Now, more than ever, stories are being told in the boardroom to influence decision makers and motivate action. Business leaders have begun to realize that powerful stories are much more effective than pie charts, bar graphs, and lists of statistics.
Tim Lowry, a local storyteller and raconteur, travels from coast to coast telling tales from his hometown of Summerville, SC. As it happens, he is often hired by business firms and non-profit organizations to teach how small town stories can benefit big business. His growing client list includes international manufacturing firms, government agencies, and award-winning arts organizations.
On select Food Truck Fridays (November 22, January 17, April 17, July 17, October 16) at the Summerville Dorchester Chamber of Commerce, Tim will share his stories with the hometown crowd. He will demonstrate the power of storytelling through personal narratives, historical tales, folklore, legends, and myths-- all drawn from everyday life in the Birthplace of Sweet Tea. Food trucks will be available for lunch purchases starting at 11:00 am. Grab a bite or bring your own brown bag. Storytelling begins at noon. This is a free event and open to the general public.
