7th Annual Women's Luncheon

Karen Freer is a semiconductor engineer who has worked around the world on new technologies, and who has chosen to make her home in Summerville. 

Originally from the UK, she has worked for both small start up companies and some major international players, along the way  becoming an expert in cameras for mobile phones.

One thing lead to another, and Apple hired her to move from Scotland to California to work on their cameras. After 13 years, she rose to become a senior Director and was responsible for the technical manufacturing of a wide range of novel optical semiconductor sensors, including Face ID and microLED displays.

Nowadays, she helps start-up companies to succeed, and mentors as a volunteer at the Harbor Entrepreneur Centre in Mount Pleasant.
 

Karen has just returned from a six month contract as a temporary CEO of a Thermal Sensor start up in Sydney, Australia and is enjoying being back with her camellias.
